Description:

Moles are small mammals that have adapted to living underground.  They have soft fur, small ears and short, very strong legs with large paws designed for digging.  The average mole is approximately 7 inches long with a 1.25 inch tail and weighs only 3 - 4 ounces.

  • Gestation Period: 42 – 45 days
  • Litter Size: 3 – 5
  • Life Span: 3 years
  • Food: Diet consists of earthworms, insects, grubs & beetles found beneath the soil. Moles can eat the equivalent of their body weight in worms & insects each day.

Habitat and Habits:

Moles live in underground burrows and are rarely found on the surface. Three to five moles per acre are considered a high population.
